Master-classes and lecture-recitals.

Philip Sawyer is happy to discuss ideas for master-classes and/or lecture-recitals to do with the organ, its music and techniques.

In master-classes he prefers to work with students who have some fluency in their organ technique, but he is prepared to work with any group that is keen to learn.

Philip Sawyer's experience as a university lecturer covers music of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th centuries. He has read research papers at conferences of the British Institute of Organ Studies and at an Edinburgh meeting of the Royal Musical Association. In 1999 he gave two lectures at the Tampere Conservatoire in Finland; one dealt with Berg's Violin Concerto, the other with the artistic relationship between Schoenberg and Kandinsky.
